On Sunday, November 9, at around 9 a.m. Moscow time I got a call from Seven Summits Club guide Sergey Kofanov, who said that he and Vladimir Stepashko were standing atop the highest peak in Australia and Oceania – Carstensz Pyramid. It is quite likely that their ascent is a specific record since:

1) The entire route from Nabire to base camp to the summit, back to base camp and back to Nabire took less than a day. This means that the guys flew in the morning and, without wasting time or resting, immediately set off to assault the summit.

2) Vladimir Stepashko became the first Ukrainian to scale Carstensz Pyramid!!!

We offer the guys our heartfelt congrats and look forward to hearing more details. We also look forward to meeting Sergey Kofanov, who organized and implemented this highly challenging and unique expedition, in Moscow!!!
